Growing Minds Chess Academy Presents: Rosh Hashanah Chess Camp

Sharpen your chess skills and learn from great chess teachers from New York City. This is a special 1 day or 2 day workshop we are doing in Brooklyn on 9/23 and 9/24.

One or two day chess camp in Brooklyn!
Time: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM EST

We are excited to announce our Rosh Hashanah Chess minicamp. Our camp will run from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM IN PERSON at the Patterns Enrichment Center. This is located at 217 Marcus Garvey Blvd. Looking for a fun day of chess when the kids are off from school? Search no further!

This chess minicamp is for students of all levels and abilities. There will be various topics covered such as tactical motifs, dangerous sacrifices, deadly checkmates and fascinating endgame studies. There will be a small ratio of students : teacher to optimize the learning experience. Licensed NYS Teacher, Growing Minds Owner and top female chess player, Alanna Katz, will be leading the group.

Tentative Schedule:

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM: Group gathering and camp warm up. The instructor may pick a game or tactic to review with the students

9:00 - 9:45 AM: Lesson of the day with an assigned coach. If numbers permit, classes will be broken down by ability

9:45 - 10:15: Break for snack

10:15 - 10:45: Puzzle Rush! Camp will be broken into teams and students will solve puzzles together as a team

10:45 - 11:30 Tournament activity of the day. This includes a Simultaneous exhibition, a g/10 tournament,  a bughouse tournament etc. 

11:30 - 12:00 Closing mini lesson before Lunch

12:00 - 1:00 PM:  Lunch and recess in Herbert Von King Park

1:00 PM - 1:30: Group gathering, practice games are played

1:30 - 2:15: Lesson with an assigned coach

2:15 - 3:00 Tactics tactics tactics. Students will play a game where they work together in groups to solve tactics

3:00 PM: Pickup

Tuition: $140 by 9/17, price increases afterwards
